Brief Background
The population was approximately 253, 743 in 2010.
The population under the age of 15 is around 26% of that population and the life expectancy of a person living in New Caledonia is 75.2 years.
The Average income per year for each person is $27, 387 where as in Australia it is $46,824 per person.
The Population is made up of 45.9% Melanesian, 16.2% Polynesian, 31.5% Caucasian and 6.4% Asian.
The Official language of New Caledonia is french and 91% of people are literate (meaning they can read and write)
80.65% of the population are Christian, 14.46% are Protestant an 0.10% are Anglican
Challenges for Prayer
The inequality in society is illustrated not only economically but also by lifestyle. Sadly too many Kanaks (indigenous peoples) and immigrants from Wallis and Futuna struggle with poor living conditions, substance abuse and domestic violence.
Pray: for ministry that will help lift these addictions and replace them with a full and vibrant life in Christ
