Survey for Summercamp 2012

LOVE, MARRIAGE, SEX + RELATIONSHIPS
Hey Parents, I will be speaking each night from the Bible on love, marriage, sex and relationships. I am aware that I will have year 7s in the same crowd as year 12s. I recognise that they are at different stages developmentally and so will speak sensitively and appropriately for the audience. However, our teenagers are receiving a sex education from the Internet, music videos, their peers and surrounding culture. So I’m convinced we need to be honest in showing young people how to think about these topics from the Bible. If you have any concerns or questions on the direction I will be taking, please contact me. Dave Miers.

More Than A Magician

This term we are studying John chapter 4 through to 7. Last week we saw Jesus’ interaction with the Samaritan woman at the well. He offered to her ‘living water’ which was really all about eternal life with God. Tonight (and this Sunday) we will see Jesus heal a young boy. In John’s gospel, Jesus is not just some magician – but his miracles are signs that point us to who he is. As we believe in Jesus, he offers us eternal life in his name. Yeeeewwwwww!

We are a little late this term in getting promo material and parents newsletters into the post. Sorry! They will be in the post by next week.

TONIGHT:
Junior Crew // Clarke Street. 7-9pm. Bring your Bible and clothes that can get messy.
Senior Crew // The Venue. 730-930pm. Bring your Bible and some chop sticks.

ShareTheLove.

ANGLICARE reaches out in love to people in need, just like Jesus reached out to us. They want to encourage you to think of one thing you can do to share God’s love with someone else and do it! What do you reckon??? Go on, do it these holidays…

We love because he first loved us _ 1 John 4:19

Yo peeps. How are you doing reading the bible these holidays? Need some ideas on what to read? Then check out this great introduction to the book of Psalms.

Have a go at reading at least 5 Psalms these holidays.

Download the intro as a PDF or read it online.

How do you choose which Psalms to read? See the bottom of the intro for 5 suggestions (beginner) and if you’ve got time for more chose some from the intermediate section.

The Bible is God’s Word to us. So listen!!

Leave any comments here or on facebook with things you’re learning.

I AM SECOND

Tonight we heard from John the Baptist in John 3:30 tonight, “He must become greater; I must become less.” He saw himself clearly and saw Jesus clearly. This meant he was happy to step aside. Jesus is number 1.

I mentioned a website during the talk: www.iamsecond.com

It has a stack of stories from people who have also recognised that Jesus is at the centre of the universe. Really well-produced vids with some pretty amazing stories.

Check it out. Leave a comment with any vids you found encouraging.

To Live is Christ – Trip Lee

Check out the following vid from Trip Lee. It’s based on Philippians. It’s from a Reach Records project/album thirteen letters – each track summarises one of Paul’s thirteen letters from the New Testament of the Bible. We used this vid at the start of each session on MISSION IMPOSSIBLE 2011. To Live Is Christ:

A ‘Digital Native’ is someone who has grown up in a digital and web-connected world. How do we effectively care for ‘Digital Natives’ in our own home? The Internet brings with it great dangers as well as incredible opportunities. How can we teach our children to avoid the harmful while leveraging it for good?

ALL PARENTS are invited to to our PARENTS SEMINAR on SAFE INTERNET USE Friday 12 August 2011. I’ve spent a lot of time thinking and speaking to parents over the last 10 years about how to safeguard their families against potential online harms. As I get to know more and more parents from St Faith’s, I’m convinced this is an issue we need to keep talking about.

The seminar is particularly targeted at parents of teenagers, but the content will be relevant to all parents. All are welcome.

It’s from 7:30 – 9:00pm at St Faith’s. If you plan on attending, please RSVP via our CONTACT PAGE.
