At SOULIES one of the ways that we roll is LOVING each other. My prayer is that every young person that walks in the door will be loved and welcomed into our community. Much of teenage culture is characterised by hate, slander and gossip. So I’m always encouraged seeing the young people in our community seeking to be different. Why is our community different? Because we know that Jesus has loved and welcomed us.

Hey Soulies Parents,

I would love to invite you to come to my place (at the back of the church car park) for morning tea or supper on Sunday 6 May. Come along after our 10:30am congregation (approx. 12-12:30pm) or come along after our 6:00pm congregation (approx. 7:30-8pm). This will be a great chance to let you know about the year, get to know each other, ask questions, pray and share some good food. If you don’t normally come to church, you are more than welcome to just attend the morning tea/supper.

SOULIES TONIGHT

LOST PROPERTY // SLEEPING BAG

We’ve got 1 item of lost property from KYCK! Only one? I think that’s a new record. It’s a swanky as sleeping bag. It’s currently at church in the foyer. Collect it within the next week, or we’ll give it to charity. Peace. Here’s a pic:

KYCK 2012 // IMPORTANT INFO

KYCK is this weekend… it’s time to get excited!!! Below is some important information for those who are coming. If your parents aren’t subscribed to our newsletter, make sure you pass this on (and get them to subscribe!).

WHAT TO PACK ETC
Go check out our KYCK12 REGO PAGE for all the details. In particular, remember to bring a sleeping mat and warm clothes. You don’t need to bring a mess bag, we’ll supply plates and cups etc.

BRING SOME EXTRA MONEY
>> $5 for Saturday night dinner. This was on the rego form, it’s a BBQ run by KYCK to raise money for Scripture teaching in NSW.
>> $10 (or more) if you’d like to give to Thirteen Three, Anglicare or Compassion. All 3 are great organisations. This is optional. Feel free to ask your parents for some money to give away, but even better would be to take money from your own savings and be generous. This is optional, but if you give, know that God loves a cheerful giver.
>> $35 if you want a sweeeet KYCK hoodie. Money raised from the hoodies helps to subsidise those traveling long distances to get to KYCK.
>> Any other cash to buy quality Christian books/music/resources from the book shop.

TENTS
We’re sleeping in them. Yeeeewww! We’ve managed to get 7 massive 12 person tents. Here’s the breakdown:

Year 7 boys – massive tent
Year 8 & 9 boys – massive tent
Year 10 boys – Suz’s 10 person tent
Year 11 & 12 boys – massive tent

Year 7 & 8 girls – massive tent

WEATHER
Here’s a pic of the forecast:

This is a pretty good forecast. It may rain a little, but it will only be 1-10mms. On the Northern Beaches we’ve had about 100mm in the last 24 hours. So any showers will hopefully only be light. 11 degrees over night is fairly mild (I slept in 3 degrees last week while camping in Wagga Wagga!!). But nonetheless, prepare for cold and wet weather when you pack.

PREPARE
I’ve heard great things from the talks from week 1 of KYCK this year. To help you get ready, make sure you have a read of the Bible passages. Here they are. KYCK promises to be a great time as we dig into God’s word getting to know Jesus better, hang out with other SOULIES and gather with 2400 others!! Don’t forget to pray!

SUNDAY PICK UP
The bus and cars will be arriving back at THE VENUE by 4pm on Sunday afternoon.

Please contact me with any questions before KYCK. Likewise, I will have my mobile with me for the weekend.

See you soon!

//SOULIES UNDERGROUND

This Thursday night (5th April) we have a special holiday event AT THE VENUE from 7pm-10pm (doors open at 630pm). SOULIES UNDERGROUND is kinda like an underground church. There are places in the world where it is illegal to meet together as Christians – but the Christians do it anyway, but in secret. I’m always encouraged hearing stories of persecuted Christians doing anything they can to meet together and listen to God’s word. So the aim of UNDERGROUND is that we will: HUNGER FOR THE WORD and PRAY FOR THE WORLD.

I will be giving some short talks on the theme MESSIAH. It will be all about Jesus. We’ve got a number of crew lined up for leading us in song and others leading us in prayer. Make sure you’re there!

Bring $5 to help Tadhg raise money for Thirteen Three and the persecuted church in Vietnam. Also to get in the mood for underground church, either wear a hoodie or smuggle your bible into the event.

>> HERE IS AN INVITE VID FROM TADHG
>> HERE ARE SOME READING NOTES TO HELP YOU PREP
>> HERE IS THE VIDEO OF UNDERGROUND LAST JULY
>> CAN’T MAKE IT TOMORROW NIGHT? WATCH IT LIVE ONLINE HERE

//GOOD FRIDAY + EASTER SUNDAY AT ST FAITH’S.

I would love to invite you to St Faith’s Narrabeen for our Good Friday and Easter Sunday services. There is no better way to spend your long weekend than reflecting upon the incredible news that Jesus has died in our place, for our sins and that he rose again to give us new life. Amazing news.
